Superintendent’s Excellence in Education Awards

St. Vrain School District awarded a bus driver for an Excellence in Education award for his devotion to students and student-athletes’ safety and especially the positive influence he has had on the Lyons Girls Basketball team.

 

Skyline High School Student Awards

Students at Skyline High School who are members of the Model UN and got the best delegate award at the High School Colorado Model UN. The school district awarded David Frick, an English Language Arts teacher at Skyline High School, an Excellence in Education award for his contribution in helping students build a Model UN.

 

Frederick High School Choral

Students at Frederick High School performed part of a musical at the school board meeting. The musical, “Big Fish,” will performed on Nov. 2, 4, 9, 10, 11.

Silver Creek High School Student Advisory Council Feeder Report

Silver Creek High School Student Advisory Council talked about their positive experience with the Silver Creek High School Feeder System. Silver Creek Leadership Showcase will be on Dec. 11.

 

Personal Financial Literacy Program Update

Personal Financial Literacy Program successfully gathered students to learn about personal financial planning. Students and parents’ responses are mostly positive, including interactive e-text developed by local teachers.

 

2016-2017 Scholarship Recipients

Graduating high school seniors were awarded a total of $908,475 in local scholarships and awards from civic organizations, local businesses and families who have set up scholarships in memory of loved ones. In addition, students were offered a total of $22,135,775 in scholarships and awards from colleges and universities across the country.

Approval to Proceed with Negotiations for a Lease Agreement for the APEX Home School Program

The School Board approved to proceed with negotiations with the owners of the facilities. APEX Homeschooling Enrichment Program requested the lease of property due to the shortage of teaching facilities. The current plan is to lease a facility under a seven-year contract with the total of $3.5 million.

 

Approval of Contract-Architect for the Career Development Center Renovation Project

The Board of Education approved the contract with DLR Group Inc., for $155,000 for the design of the Career Development Center Renovation Project.

 

Approval of Waiver of Board Policy KF – Community Use of School Facilities

The Board of Education approved to waive fee on the 3rd Annual Red Thread Bazaar to enable Central Elementary to raise funds. Central Elementary will donate half of the donation to the 2017 Hurricane Relief Efforts.

 

Approval of Request to Grant Exception to Board Policy GBEA – Staff Ethics/Conflict of Interest

The Board of Education approved to enable Faith Halverson-Ramos, a substitute teacher in the District, to provide part-time music therapy services to students at the Main Street School, which is estimated to be $9,240 for this school year. Board Policy states that school district employees cannot sell services to schools.

Approval of School Bus Purchases

The Board of Education approved to buy 13 buses for about $1.4. million. In addition to six traditional buses for commuting and three small buses for students with special needs, the transportation service will acquire four buses for activities.
