SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE INVESTIGATION
On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 8:05am Longmont Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Collyer Street to investigate a suspicious package. The package was lying on the ground between two dumpsters at the rear of two, eight unit apartment buildings. It was noticed and reported by sanitation workers.
Officers responded and located the package. They cordoned off the area and called in members of the Boulder County Bomb squad. The Bomb Squad conducted an on-scene investigation. Bomb Squad personnel ensured the package was safe but they will continue their investigation away from this location. Patrol officers are in the process of interviewing residents in the area.
The generally cylindrical package is approximately 4” long and 1 ½” in diameter. It is wrapped in black tape and has a green cord extending from it. There are no photographs available at this time and there may not be any photographs of the package that will be released until the investigation is concluded by the bomb squad.
There were no evacuations and no streets were closed. The perimeter that had been established was released at 1000 hours.
