Shooting in Longmont

Longmont Public Safety (LPS) issued an update on the shooting that occurred this morning.

According to LPS, they are still in the process of investigating the shooting, however, no officers remain at the scene and the streets are now open.

The victim received care at Longmont United Hospital for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and has now been released.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Boulder County Jail. The individual was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and first-degree assault. The handgun used in the crime has been recovered by the police.


Around 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, Longmont Emergency Communications received a call indicating a man had been shot.

The incident was reported to be in the area of 21st Avenue and Meadow Court.

Officers responded to the scene and located the victim, who received initial treatment on the scene and was transported to the hospital for further attention. According to a press release by Longmont Public Safety, “there is no more information regarding the victim at this time.”

The suspect was contacted and arrested without incident.

While Longmont Public Safety continues to investigate the situation, they reassure the community that “there is no known danger to the community.” Due to the investigation, 21st Avenue between Collyer St. and Estes Lane will be closed until further notice.
