The sheriff’s office is requesting the public’s assistance in recovering items taken in a burglary of the property of a deceased veteran.

In October 2019, a unit at East Point Mini Storage, 12121 Sugarmill Road, was broken into and multiple boxes of personal property were taken. The stolen items included distinctive World War II memorabilia, most notably two “KABAR” (K-Bar) knives in display cases and a boxed John Wayne “Pacific Marine” action figure. Photos of these items are included below.

The “KABAR” knives were sold to Grandpa’s Pawn in Longmont, and have since been resold to an unidentified buyer(s). Investigators are seeking to identify the person or persons who purchased those knives and is requesting anyone with information regarding the purchaser(s), or any other parties possibly involved in this event, to contact Detective Connor Pontiakos at (303) 441-3379.

The person(s) who purchased the knives from Grandpa’s Pawn are only being sought to contribute information to the investigation and are not considered suspects in the burglary.
