Shortly before noon today, a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to make a traffic stop of a careless driver. The driver eluded and drove into the city of Longmont to a dead end street, in the 900 block of Meeker Street. He crashed his vehicle into a fence, which caused his vehicle to become disabled. The suspect then took off on foot. Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and officers with Longmont Police Department searched for the suspect and located him nearby after a short search.

Skyline High School is located near where the suspect took off on foot, which prompted the school to go into lockout as a safety precaution. The suspect was taken into custody by the Longmont Police Department and was transported to the Boulder County Jail.

In addition to vehicular eluding, the suspect was charged with trespassing, criminal mischief, traffic offenses, and two outstanding warrants and a canceled/denied driver’s license. Charges pertaining to this incident are still pending.
