Longmont Makes Top 100 Places to Live List Money.com has ranked Longmont as one of the Top 100 Places to Live for 2019. The publication collected nearly 160,000 different data points to create the list including economic health, cost of living, ethnic and economic diversity, public education, income, health and safety, ease of living, and amenities. They put the greatest weight on economic factors, housing, health and safety, diversity and cost of living. Quality of life, education and local amenities were also critical components.

Issues
In the November election Longmont residents will be asked to vote on three ballot issues to (1) authorize a sales tax to finance the issuance of bonds for the construction and operation of a competitive pool and ice facility, (2) allow 30-year leases of City property, and (3) extend the streets and transportation sales tax indefinitely. Learn How to Ride RTD
The City of Longmont is sponsoring a free “How to Ride RTD” workshop from 6:30 to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 1, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Staff from the City, Commuting Solutions, and RTD will answer your questions including how to locate a stop; how to read a schedule; how to select the best transit option; fares and passes; specialty rides such as SkyRide to DIA; Local, Limited, Regional and Express Bus services; FlexRide; and how to access RTD transit by bicycle. Coffee with Council is Saturday, September 28
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, September 28, at the Public Works facility, 375 Airport Road. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Finley and Christensen are scheduled to attend. National Voter Registration Day
When was the last time you checked your voter registration? If you aren’t properly registered, your votes might not count on November 5. For National Voter Registration Day the Longmont Public Library is partnering with the League of Women Voters of Boulder County to host a voter registration event from 10 am to 9 pm on Tuesday, September 24, at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. Stop by and be sure you’re registered to vote!
Library Celebrates Banned Books Week
Every year, the American Library Association calls attention to attempts to ban certain books from library shelves during Banned Books Week, September 22-28. This year, the Teen Library Committee will host a party from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Monday, September 23, at the Library, 409 4th Avenue, to highlight the most frequently banned books and the value of free access to books and information. Partygoers will explore the
dangers of censorship and learn about books that have been challenged or banned in the past year. There also will be discussions about favorite challenged books, clips from films based on banned books, and, of course, snacks. The party is for 6th-12th graders only, and registration is not required. The Library’s social media platforms will feature one challenged or banned book each day throughout the week.
Technology and the Greatest Generation
In 2015, author Veronica Kirin set out to discover what America’s oldest residents think about technology. She traveled almost 12,000 miles to interview 100 elders, including two Longmont residents, about how technology has changed society over the past 100 years. Kirin brings insights and stories of that research to the Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue from 7 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, October 3, in her

Strider Glider Bike Race for Preschoolers
Preschoolers ages 2-5 can showcase their balance biking skills at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 5, at Willow Farm Park, 901 S. Fordham Street, during a morning of racing fun.
