Give kids the confidence boost that comes from being a part of a team and making new friends! With a guaranteed seven games in January and February, a reversible high-quality Junior Nuggets jersey, a free basketball, and two tickets to see the Denver Nuggets play, the Longmont Recreation & Golf Services youth basketball league is the best value in town! Basketball is a great way to build motor skills, endurance, balance, and coordination.

Program coordinator Rene Kingsley explains what makes Longmont Recreation & Golf Services so great:  “With Rec, kids develop a sense of team play where participation, skills, sportsmanship and fun are stressed above all.” She notes that even though individual games are scored, winning takes a back seat to teamwork and sportsmanship in this program. The emphasis is not to get a trophy, but to enjoy the process of skill building, strategy, and having fun.

Recreation Junior Nuggets teams are formed by school attended, and they practice two hours per week at local schools Monday-Friday evenings. Games are played on Saturdays in Longmont or surrounding towns. The next registration deadline is Sunday, December 17, and practice begins the week of January 2. Games start on January 13, 2018. Registration cost is $90/child, and scholarships are available. This program is dependent upon volunteer coaches—if you are able to volunteer, please call 303-774-4800.
