Better health is a big focus for many New Year Resolutions, so why not carry that commitment throughout the year with the Longmont Library’s new book group, “Read for Your Health”? The book group, for adults and teens aged 16 and older, will feature titles with an emphasis on improved health and quality of life. With an initial meeting of Tuesday, January 28, from 7 to 8 pm and then every other month thereafter, the book group will provide an opportunity to read and discuss some major health topics of our day. Meetings of the group will be led by a librarian.

With in-kind support from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, a division of the National Library of Medicine, the Longmont Library is able to offer this timely and interesting twist on a traditional book group.  The first three selected titles range from information on self-advocating in the modern world of medicine, to women’s health as they age, to the history of understanding our most vital organ: our heart. Additional titles will be added based on the group composition and interest.

Eight free copies of each book to be discussed will be available on a first come, first served basis at the 2nd Floor Desk one month before the meeting date. Other copies can be obtained through the Library's online catalog, from other libraries, and through local bookstores. Registration is required for each meeting and is limited to 12 participants.  For complete details and to register, visit http://bit.ly/BookGrps. Patrons without internet access or an email address may call 303-651-8472 to register by phone.
