Shred Your Private Documents for Free

Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, April 7. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. Landlord Alliance Training: Fair Housing Law

Attorney Sam Anderson of the Colorado Civil Rights Division will discuss fair housing law from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, April 11, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. Learn what is required of landlords as well as landlord and tenant rights. This event is free and open to all. For more information call 303-774-4384 or email [email protected].

All Park Restrooms Open by April 9

Many park restrooms close for winter and reopen in spring (it’s a plumbing thing). The second Monday in April marks the date that all restrooms are once again open from 5 am to 11 pm daily. Restrooms are cleaned and restocked once a day. If you see a problem with a park or greenway public restroom facility, call 303-651-8416 or report it online at ServiceWorks.LongmontColorado.gov.

Waste Diversion Center Hours Change

April 15 marks the start of spring/summer hours at Longmont’s Waste Diversion Center (WDC). The WDC will be open from 8:30 am to 5:45 pm Monday through Saturday (closed on Sundays and holidays). Single-stream recycling bins are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Longmont residents pay no fee to use the WDC; please bring identification and your most recent Longmont utility bill. Downtown Clean and Green

Start your weekend off by helping spruce up Downtown on Saturday, May 5 from 8 to 11:30 am. The LDDA is seeking volunteers to pick up trash, pull weeds, spread mulch, clean structures, and more in our lovely Downtown. Come with a friend or form a team. Tasty food and t-shirt provided. Journalists to Deconstruct “Fake News”

Journalists from the Times-Call will share practical tips to help you tell credible news from fake news, plus give a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the news industry, in a free program presented by the Longmont Public Library from 7 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, April 19, in the City Council Chambers at 350 Kimbark Street. Accessibility and Adaptable Technology Fair 

Seniors, family members, and caregivers are invited to the Longmont Senior Center at 910 Longs Peak Avenue from 4:30 to 6 pm on Thursday, April 26, to learn about adaptive services and technologies that can help you and your loved ones age in place. This free event goes beyond grab bars and personal alert devices to address a variety of issues including hearing loss, vision changes, dementia, low mobility, and social isolation. The Spanish-language “Feria de Technología Adaptable y Accessibilidad” will be held from 4:30 to 6 pm on Tuesday, April 17. For more information, call 303-651-8414.

City Streets Get a Spring Cleaning

In spring, the City of Longmont conducts citywide street sweeping on more than 350 centerline miles of roadway to remove dirt, debris and pollutants that build up during the winter.
