Retaining Wall Repair Begins at Ute Creek Golf Course

Beginning in mid-March, the City of Longmont will complete safety work related to two retaining walls adjacent to the

pedestrian and golf cart underpass along the Ute Creek Golf Course.

Beginning in mid-March, the City of Longmont will complete safety work related to two retaining walls adjacent to the pedestrian and golf cart underpass along the Ute Creek Golf Course. The construction area is located on the east side of Pace Street and south of Spring Gulch #2. Work is expected to take approximately 8 weeks and should be completed prior to peak golf season.

Retaining walls that support the sidewalk, pedestrian underpass, and street have been bulging and are in need of repair. The rehabilitation of the walls will include a concrete cap, built-in drainage system, and new geotextile reinforcement that will provide

additional support to help prevent the walls from bulging in the future.

The Ute Creek Golf Course is expected to remain open during this project, and construction flaggers will be on site to aid golfers and neighborhood residents in passing through the construction zone from one part of the course to another.

Clear paths or detours for pedestrians and bicyclists will also be set up for safe travel around the construction zone on Pace Street. The sidewalk on the west side of Pace Street, adjacent to the project, will be partially removed and reconstructed.

The center turn lane on Pace Street adjacent to the construction zone will be removed and traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Occasional lane closures will be marked by flaggers and clearly marked detour signs.

Work will primarily take place during normal weekday business hours. No

work is anticipated to take place in the evenings; however, occasional weekend work may be scheduled.

KECI Colorado Inc. has been awarded the contract for the work.
