Landlord Training Alliance: A Judge’s View
Boulder County Judge Elizabeth Brodsky is a proponent of mediation to help landlords and tenants who appear in her court for evictions. From 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, February 14, she will discuss her views at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. This free event is open to the public. Sales and Use Tax Seminar
Do you have questions about the business sales and use tax in Longmont? A free

Free UCHealth Classes at the Rec Center
From 6 to 7 pm on select Mondays and Wednesdays join the doctors of UCHealth Longmont Clinic at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, to learn tips to stay healthy, strong and pain free. Storytime with the Tooth Fairy
To celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month, the Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue has booked a date with the Tooth Fairy on Tuesday, February 13, for storytime sessions at 10:15 and 11 am. Come hear stories and learn about taking care of our pearly whites. This program is best for ages 2 and older, and no registration is required.
Public Can Comment on Marijuana Applications
The public comment period on the 13 marijuana stores competing to be one of four to which the City will grant licenses is open through February 16. To see the applications and submit a comment about one or more of them visit bit.ly/MarijuanaComment.
All About Owls at Sandstone Ranch
Do you know whooo lives in our area? Join Recreation Services from 10:30 am to noon or from 12:30 to 2 pm on Saturday, February 24, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, to learn what makes owls different from other birds and raptors. No live owls will be present. There is a suggested donation of $2/child and $4/adult, collected at the event. All ages welcome! Register at 303-651-8404.
Free Income Tax and Rebate Assistance
VITA and TCE provide free income tax preparation and e-filing for low- to moderate-income adults and seniors at two locations. The VITA site at 2050 Terry Street, Suite 101, is for walk-in clients from 6 to 8:30 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays through April 15. TCE volunteers at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue, see clients by appointment only from 9 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 12. City of Longmont rebate forms for property tax/rent, water, parks fee and electricity. No appointment is needed for rebates; drop in from 8:30 to 11 am on Thursdays only through April 12.
Ward 1 Special Election
Voters in Longmont Ward 1 can vote for a new City Council representative through a mail ballot that was delivered to registered voters. The election will fill the unexpired term vacated by Council Member Brian Bagley when he was elected as Mayor last year. You are encouraged to return your ballot early through the mail or at either of the 24-hour drop-off boxes: YMCA, 950 Lashley St. (near entrance), St. Vrain Hub, 529 Coffman St. (north end of building near entrance to Motor Vehicle offices). Explore the Rise of the Alt-Right in America
With “Alt-Right” marches and neo-Nazi followers becoming more brazen in their claims and political aspirations, many Americans are wondering how we got here. Professor Mary Ann Grim and Dr. Catlyn Keenan from Front Range Community College will attempt to answer that question from 7 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 8, at the Library, 409 4th Avenue.
