As the nights grow longer and we inch towards the darkest days of the year, it's time to celebrate friends and family far and wide. The Longmont Senior Center invites you to remember and honor our deceased loved ones at an early, all-ages Día de Muertos dance Tuesday, October 22 from 6-8pm at the Longmont Senior Center. Bailes de mi Tierra will perform folklorico and DJ Raffa will spin some contemporary tunes. Enjoy tamales and snacks, and add to our memorial altar. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Veronica Garcia,a Senior Services resource specialist, organizes the event: "It's one of my favorite holidays. Even though we are
organizing it on a Tuesday this year, I hope lots of our community members will come out to this multicultural celebration."

The Day of the Dead activities are usually held from October 31st to November 2nd. Far from being a gruesome or scary holiday, it's a time to remember loved ones who have passed on and to celebrate our ancestors who came before us. Marigolds, catrinas, processions, altars (ofrendas), and food or sweets are usually a part of the rituals of the traditional holiday. This community event is free, but please call the Senior Center at 303-651-8411 by October 14th to register in advance.
