If you've been in Longmont for any period of time, you've likely noticed a few of the switchgear boxes that are painted around town.  But how many are there, how does one find them and how are they selected?  Currently there are 41 painted switchgear boxes. How many have you seen?

Art in Public Places (AIPP), in collaboration with Longmont Power & Communications is currently seeking recommendations for green "otherwise blah" switchgear boxes to paint in 2018.

Five will be selected to be painted.  They must be within the City of Longmont.

Concurrently, AIPP is seeking submission ideas from artists.

Deadline for submissions is May 9 and the stipend for winning artists is $1600.

As public art is intended for the community to appreciate (whether you love the art or not), community members will have the opportunity to VOTE for the (Shock Art) proposals again this year.  All submissions will be on display for voting at the Arts Longmont gallery from May 19 - 31.  From June 1- 13, voting will be at the Longmont Museum.  Viewing and voting at these venues during open hours.  Winners will be announced in late June and painting will start in August.
