The ABC Affiliate Channel 7 in Denver reports on a new study from CU that says people living near oil and gas wells may have a higher risk of cancer and other diseases.

According to the report, 19 percent, or about 400,000 people in Colorado, live within one mile of a well.

Industry and state sources say that the risks only happen at distances of 500 feet or less and low health risks past 500 feet.
